The Conference Board issued the following news release:

The Conference Board reports today that the leading index for France declined 0.6 percent and the coincident index remained unchanged in September.

* The leading index declined sharply again in September, its eleventh consecutive decline, mainly due to substantial negative contributions from building permits, industrial new orders and stock prices. Since March, the leading index has declined by 2.8 percent (about a -5.5 percent annual rate), below the negative 1.8 percent rate (-3.5 percent annualized) between September 2007 and March 2008.
