The city of Blacksburg issued the following news release:
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2009 Governor's Volunteerism and Community Service Awards. Honors will be presented in several categories, including youth, senior, faith-based organization, non-profit organization, emergency preparedness and disaster recovery, business, individual volunteer and national service.
The awards recognize the outstanding efforts of Virginia's volunteers. Nominations are open to businesses, groups, individuals and families who exemplify extraordinary volunteerism and community service.
