Article: 'Most beautiful' Corsica still dazzles

From a height of 500 metres, the view from the northern Corsican hamlet of Sant'Antonino sweeps across a wide valley of low-lying olive trees toward the mountainous interior. Fifty kilometres to the south rises Mount Cinto, at 2,700 metres the island's highest peak. Residents of Sant'Antonino have looked across the valley since the 9th century, making it Corsica's oldest continuously inhabited village.

An unspoiled relic, the village has been officially designated as one of France's "most beautiful villages." The Mediterranean island has dazzled visitors since the ancient Greeks sailed into its turquoise bays and declared the island Kalliste: the most beautiful.
