Article: German Inventors Develop Leading Sheave Mine Winding Engine

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 22 -- Rainer Finkenbusch of Waltrop, Germany, Norbert Bauer of Dortmund, Germany, Rolf Heep of Wilsdorf, Germany, and Frank Kristek of Herdecke, Germany, have developed an electric motor for driving winding ropes.

According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a Koepe winder or drum winder comprising an electric motor for driving winding ropes. The rotor of said motor is connected to the cylinder jacket of the Koepe winder and the stator frame is fixed on a support structure that has a hollow shaft.
