In 2010, Russia's Tuapse Commercial Seaport expects to open a 450-millionruble (roughly $ I 7 million) terminal that will handle the transshipment of vegetable oil, the company told the Interfax news agency in late September. The terminal will accept, store, and export up to I MMT of sunflower oil per year and also import up to 500,000 metric tons of vegetable oil, mainly palm oil, the report noted.
Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM: Decatur, Illinois, USA) and PolyOne Corp. (Cleveland, Ohio) will collaborate to develop biobased plasticizers from corn and oilseeds for use in polymer formulations, the companies announced in September.
