Article: VERMONT DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO RECOGNIZE WORLD AIDS DAY

The Vermont Department of Health issued the following news release:

The 20th Annual World AIDS Day will be recognized in Vermont today at the 12 district offices of the Vermont Department of Health.

The Health Department will encourage HIV testing and prevention, as early detection and medical care can greatly reduce the risk of spreading the virus and enable people to live longer, healthier lives.

Vermont has an HIV/AIDS case rate that is among the lowest in the nation. As of December 31, 2007, there were 482 people who have HIV/AIDS known to be living in Vermont.
