Virginia Military Institute issued the following news release:
The Corps of Cadets of the Virginia Military Institute will mark the 100th anniversary of the first time it marched in a Presidential Inaugural Parade by marching in the parade ushering in President-elect Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States.
This will be the 13th Inauguration in which VMI cadets have marched. The first was in 1909, when President William Howard Taft was sworn in. VMI Superintendent Gen. J. H. Binford Peay III said the Presidential Inaugural Committee informed the Institute today that the Corps was selected to participate in the parade.
