The University of North Carolina School of Medicine issued the following press release:

Peter A. Leone, M.D., associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been awarded the 2008 Marty Prairie Award.

The award, presented by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services HIV/STD Prevention and Care Branch, is given to individuals or organizations whose work with HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases "exhibits distinguished, bold and innovative community service and/or advocacy that positively impacts North Carolina."
