Baltimore County issued the following press release:

The National Weather Service has changed the terminology it uses to forecase and describe winter weather in Maryland.

Emergency management leaders encourage Baltimore County citizens to familiarize themselves with these changes so that they can prepare when severe weather threatens.

Winter Weather, Freezing Rain Advisories

The major change is involves the use of the term, "Winter Weather Familiarize yourself with new terms used to forecast winter weather.Advisory" instead of the now-obsolete "Snow Advisory" and "Heavy Snow Warning."

Now, the NWS will issue a Winter Weather Advisory when snow or a combination of snow, sleet and/or freezing ...
