Mayor Sheila Dixon issued a proclamation declaring December 21, 2008 as "Frank Zappa Day" in Baltimore.

Born in Baltimore on December 21, 1940, Frank Zappa went on to become a worldrenowned composer, musician, and author before his untimely passing due to prostate cancer in 1993.

Frank Zappa has received international recognition for his talents, innovation, and defense of the First Amendment.
