Article: Quilt Shop Also Peddles Sewing Machines

"Women deserve a good hobby just like men," says Marshall Martin, owner of Wilson's Your Favorite Quilt Shop in Hagerstown, which celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year.

"Men have always bought things for their hobbies, like jet skis or four-wheelers; sometimes they buy two. We provide the four-wheelers and jet skis for women-sewing machines. Sometimes they buy two, one for embroidery and one for quilting."

Wilson's, which employs eight people full time, not only sells and services sewing machines and cabinets, it also offers quilting classes and stocks 3,000 bolts of fabric.

"There are other quilt shops in the area," says Martin, "but many are run more as a hobby than a business. ...
