With the public's help, the Quake-Catcher Network seeks to expand the seismic network, to improve early warning.

An earthquake detection network launched earlier this year is engaging the public in collecting earthquake data by simply using their laptop computers. The Quake-Catcher Network was developed by Elizabeth Cochran, a seismologist at UC Riverside, as a way to augment the existing network of earthquake monitoring stations.
