PUBLIC SAFETY
To improve the rate of survival among sudden car- diac arrest (SCA) victims in the state, the Arizona Department of Health Services' Save Hearts in Arizona Registry and Education (SHARE) Program has launched the "Your Hands, Their Heart" pro- gram. The statewide campaign aims to teach 6th through 12th graders how to correctly perform continuous chest compression CPR in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
In the U.S., nearly 325,000 people die each year from SCA. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), approximately 95% of SCA victims die before reaching the hospital-often because they haven't received CPR. When high-quality CPR is not initiated, the chance ...
