Article: Wooster gets Liquid Chromatograph Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer

The College of Wooster issued the following news release:

Students and faculty at The College of Wooster are making good use of a new Liquid Chromatograph Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer, which separates mixtures of complex chemicals and measures them by mass. The instrument, valued at approximately $300,000, was purchased at a discount through a grant from the National Science Foundation.

On the front end, the liquid chromatograph separates compounds in a complex mixture before they enter the mass spectrometer. A triple quadrupole mass spectrometer is a type of tandem mass spectrometer that can be thought of as two mass spectrometers in series connected by a chamber, or collision cell. ...
