Article: Sen. Specter Introduces Bill Concerning Public Hearing Before Issuance of Permits Affecting Public, Private Land Use

WASHINGTON, Jan. 12 -- Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania, has introduced a bill (S. 32) to " require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to hold at least 1 public hearing before issuance of a permit affecting public or private land use in a locality."

The bill, introduced on Jan. 6, was co-sponsored by Sen. Robert P. Casey, D-Pennsylvania. It was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
