The city of Blaine issued the following news release:
This new year, make a resolution to reduce stormwater runoff and make improvements to the environment. Believe it or not, some simple changes around the house and yard can enhance the appearance of the property, reduce utility bills and help the environment, all at the same time. Some suggestions:
* Turn downspouts from gutter drains so that water flows onto the grass or into a garden. One of the biggest problems created by stormwater runoff and snow melt is the volume of water generated. With more streets and rooftops being built, less ground area is available for water to soak, resulting in less groundwater for trees and plants. ...
