Article: Canastota start-up sees greener way to cut grass

CANASTOTA - A new start-up company in Madison County is hoping the next time you want some peace and quiet, you may also want to cut the grass.

Ecosport, LLC, which moved into the Canastota Industrial Park at 11 Madison Blvd. on Dec. 15, begins production this month on Whisper Mow, described as an eco-friendly, lawn-tractor that uses no oil, gas, or other non-renewable sources of energy.

"It's all electric. It doesn't use any fossil fuels," says Robert (Rob) Kress, vice president and general manager of the manufacturer.

Since it includes an on-board charger, the owner just needs to plug an adapter into an electrical outlet to prepare the machine for use.
