To mark the company's 30th anniversary, Genesis Hospitality Inc. last night announced $1 million in donations over the next five years to several local fundraising projects, three of which are based right here in Brandon.

"This is where our roots are," Genesis vice-president Gary Buckley said following last night's announcement during a gala celebration at Brandon's Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre. "We do support all the communities where we have properties, but we've been here the longest, and this was the start of it.

"We feel most loyal to Brandon."
