Article: Rep. Smith Introduces Enemy Combatant Detention Review Act

WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 -- Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, has introduced the Enemy Combatant Detention Review Act of 2009 (H.R. 630), legislation that would "provide for habeas corpus review for terror suspects held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba."

The bill, introduced on Jan. 22, was co-sponsored by Reps. John Boehner, R-Ohio; F. James Sensenbrenner Jr., R-Wisconsin; Trent Franks, R-Arizona; Dan Lungren, R-California; Elton Gallegly, R-California; Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; Ted Poe, R-Texas; Gregg Harper, R- Mississippi; Howard Coble, R-North Carolina; and Tom Rooney, R-Florida. It was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
