WASHINGTON, Feb. 12 -- Sen. Daniel K. Akaka, D-Hawaii, has introduced the Intelligence Community Audit Act of 2009 (S. 385), legislation that would "reaffirm and clarify the authority of the Comptroller General to audit and evaluate the programs, activities, and financial transactions of the intelligence community."
The bill, introduced on Feb. 5, was co-sponsored by Sens. Frank R. Lautenberg, D-New Jersey; Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri; Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont; Ron Wyden, D-Oregon; Tom Carper, D-Delaware; and Dick Durbin, D-Illinois. It was referred to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
