LOCK HAVEN, Pa., Feb. 9 -- Slippery Rock University issued the following news release:
Rock senior forward Denell Stephens was recorgnized for his stellar efforts last week by being named Monday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division "Player of the Week."
Stephens (STEFF-ins) averaged 29.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in two division games last week to lead The Rock to wins over California (Pa.) and Mercyhurst that gave the Green and White sole possession of fourth place in the division standings.
A 6-foot-3, 205-pound Stephens also shot an impressive 76.7 percent (23-for-30) from the field and averaged 3.5 steals per game.
