It's been almost two years since Brian Meeter became executive director of the La Crosse Area Sports Commission, which works to recruit and create sports events and meetings in the greater La Crosse area.
"We're just starting to get into the phase where we've got some larger events going on," Meeter said in an interview at the La Crosse Area Convention and Visitors Bureau offices in Riverside Park.
The bureau provides office space to the commission, which also has a part-time employee, sports events coordinator Jen Barber. Two university interns will help them this spring.
Right now, Meeter and Barber are preparing for the first Greater La Crosse Sports Connection Awards Banquet on Feb. 15 ...
