WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 -- Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas (5th CD), issued the following statement:

U.S. Congressman Jeb Hensarling (TX-05) today issued the following statement regarding President Obama's plan to have taxpayers foot the bill to save foreclosed homeowners:

"I am disappointed that President Obama has decided to expose American taxpayers to additional risk. Everyone knows that many families are struggling right now to keep their jobs, pay their bills, and hang onto their homes. Certainly there are cases of people in mortgage trouble due to genuine hardship; unfortunately, no one has a monopoly on pain and on challenge in today's weakened economy.
