Colombo, Feb. 19 -- The students of the Roman Catholic Primary School, Walagama in the Galigamuwa electorate, who showed a positive response to the Principal's request to use electricity sparingly, invented a water pump operated by a See-Saw to fill the barrel with water instead of using the electrically operated water pump. The water pump coupled to the see-saw is activated when the children play on the see-saw.
Principal of the school Hemantha Wijesinghe said "It is a simple device that does not need an operator. The barrel gets automatically filled when the children ride the see-saw. Our monthly electricity bill is more than Rs.1200 and I wanted to reduce it to the bare minimum. The ...
