Article: Rep. Thompson Introduces Intelligence Community Audit Act

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 -- Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, D-Mississippi, has introduced the Intelligence Community Audit Act of 2009 (H.R. 1008), legislation that would "reaffirm and clarify the authority of the Comptroller General to audit and evaluate the programs, activities, and financial transactions of the intelligence community."

The bill, introduced on Feb. 11, was co-sponsored by Reps. Loretta Sanchez, D-California; Jim McDermott, D-Washington; Henry Cuellar, D-Texas; Christopher P. Carney, D-Pennsylvania; and Emanuel Cleaver, D-Missouri. It was referred to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
