WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 -- Rep. Ken Calvert, R-California, has introduced the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility Safe Closure Act of 2009 (H.R. 1069), legislation that would "provide for certain requirements related to the closing of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility."

The bill, introduced on Feb. 13, was co-sponsored by Reps. Brian P. Bilbray, R-California; William L. Jenkins, R-Tennessee; Jeff Miller, R-Florida; Darrell Issa, R-California. It was referred to the House Armed Services Committee.
