WASHINGTON, Feb. 25 -- Rep. Charles J. Melancon, D-La., raised $1,544,912 toward his election campaign last year and spent $904,878, OpenSecrets.org reported. Alexander has $777,659 cash on hand and no debts based on his latest Federal Election Commission report (Dec. 31).

The Center for Responsive Politics reported that Melancon's top contributors were:
