Making a difference is what a career in purchasing is all about for Solomon Nyamande. The recently appointed purchasing chief at Thurrock Borough Council believes procurement can play a key role in affecting social change.
He gets great satisfaction from making a "real difference to real people" and believes that purchasing is an important part of successful regeneration projects. Among those Nyamande has worked on are the construction of a school playground and a care home for the elderly.
