In a commentary in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Mr Benjamin P Falit and Dr Cary P Gross, from Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut, US, have proposed a framework for an efficient and fair means of providing access to investigational agents for terminally ill patients.
The Abigail Alliance vs Von Eschenbach case reign ited debate about the availability of developmental drugs to the terminally ill, inspiring Falit and Gross to ask: "What might be the appropriate new policy that balances access, patient protection, and scientific integrity?"
