Article: GKN will recruit engineers at Filton wing-making plant

GKN HAS taken over operational ownership of the former Airbus wing manufacturing and assembly site at Fdton in Bristol.

Despite fears that the economic downturn will have a big impact on aerospace, GKN believes Filton offers exciting and sustainable future employment for engineers.

Filton, which employs 1,500 people, will be the focus of GKNs participation in the Airbus A350 XWB programme. This will require the construction of a new dedicated composite manufacturing facility mat will use the latest automated techniques to produce the aircraft's wing trailing edge and wing spar. GKN said it would be investing £125 million over five years.
