ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 7 -- Patrick Dreher of Bad Duerrheim, Germany, Martin Seufert of Steinheim, Germany, and Frank Nageleisen of Kirchzarten, Germany, have developed a method for controlling an automated step-by-step variable transmission. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,472,616 on Jan. 6.

The patent has been assigned to GETRAG Getriebe- und Zahnradfabrik Hermann Hagenmeyer GmbH & Cie KG, Untergruppenbach, Germany.
