CHAPEL HILL, N.C., March 20 -- The city of Chapel Hill issued the following press release:

The Town of Chapel Hill's cable franchise agreement with Time Warner Cable will cease on March 31 due to the cable company's filing of a Notice of Franchise with the NC Secretary of State.

The Video Service Competition Act permits Time Warner to terminate its agreement with the Town of Chapel Hill once any portion of its franchise area has been identified as part of the service area of another state franchised cable operator, via its Notice of Service.
