ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., March 8 -- New Mexico State University issued the following news release:

The New Mexico State women's tennis team lost a close, hard-fought match to in-state rival and 71st-ranked New Mexico, Sunday, March 8, at the Randy Briggs Indoor Tennis Bubble. The 5-2 loss ends the Aggies' three-match winning streak and pushes NM State's record back to 5-4. The Lobos improve to 3-7 with the win that ended their five-match losing streak.

New Mexico State took the doubles point from the Lobos, but then came back and was only able to win 1-of-6 singles matches, leading to the loss.

Head coach Don Ball said that his team let one get away from them Sunday.
