Article: KAUAI-BASED U.S. COAST GUARD CREW RESCUES ILL SAN FRANCISCO WOMAN

KAUAI, Hawaii, March 24 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Coast Guard, 14th District, issued the following press release:

A U.S. Coast Guard rescue crew here rescued an ill 27-year-old woman Tuesday, one mile south of Nawiliwili Harbor.

The Coast Guard received a request for medical assistance at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the owner of the fishing vessel Ann Melia concerning a woman suffering complications from diabetes.

Coast Guard Sector Honolulu search and rescue coordinators immediately launched a 31-foot rescue boat crew from Station Kauai to the scene of the ill woman.
