BEAUMONT, Texas, April 9 -- Lamar University issued the following news release:

Ron Blatchley of Bryan has been named chairman of the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System, TSUS officials announced today.

Blatchley was elected chair in a specially called board meeting April 6. His term as regent expires Feb. 1, 2011. He is a partner in BMB Homes. Ltd., in Bryan/College Station. Blatchley worked in higher education for more than 20 years, including service as director of student activities at North Texas State University and, for the last 14 years, as director of student affairs at Texas A&M University.
