Local travel agents say the United States' decision to relax travel restrictions for Cuban Americans may be a boon for the local Cuba-lovers' holiday experience.

Although prices may climb as demand for a spot on the beach increases, the prospect of increased development and improved infrastructure is something to look forward to, Brandon-based travel agent Marlene Kirton says.

"I think the new policy will eventually open the floodgates for American tourism to Cuba," said Kirton, of Marlin Travel. "It's really hard to sustain tourism in Cuba just based on Canadian tourism.
