New orders and regulations under the Minimum Wage Act of Manitoba are now in effect. The minimum wage for female urban employees for a 40 to 44-hour week is $19.50. The rate of pay for overtime is 67 cents per hour with a maximum of 12 hours allowed each month. The rural rate is $18.50 per week with 65 cents per hour for overtime. For male employees under 18, the new minimum is 40 cents per hour for a 48-hour week worth 60 cents per hour for overtime, and for employees over 18, it is 50 cents per hour for a 48-hour week and 75 cents per hour overtime.
