LOS ANGELES, April 28 -- The City of Los Angeles issued the following news release:

Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, the city's chief prosecutor, today announced his office's School Safety Division filed battery and weapons possession charges against a South Los Angeles man who assaulted a student and staff member at Manual Arts High School in the University Park neighborhood.

At approximately 3:30pm on Monday, Eddie Mazariegos, 19, entered Manual Arts intending to confront a student at the school. Mazariegos approached the student and began punching him.
