Study of the decomposition of four commercially available hydrogen peroxide solutions by Fenton's reagent

ABSTRACT: Four commercially available hydrogen peroxide solutions were decomposed by Fenton's reagent under nonadiabatic conditions to determine whether their decomposition rates would vary because of differences in the types and amounts of proprietary stabilizers added. The experimental plan used a 2^sup2^ factorial design for each solution with two factors-concentration of hydrogen peroxide and ratio of hydrogen peroxide to ferrous iron-and two levels, high and low. Peroxide decomposition rates were modeled using Weibull survival curves, and the shape and scale parameters of these curves were estimated using nonlinear least-squares regression.
