Article: Journalists should not fight PR wars

The public-relations battle between Shaw Communications and CTV has grown into a full-scale war, with each side launching salvo after salvo of advertisements at Canadians through various forms of media.

In our view, both sides are guilty to a certain extent of manipulating the truth to fit their own agenda, but CTV has crossed a line of journalistic integrity by dragging its front-line reporters and anchors into the fray, thereby undermining the credibility of their work - in particular when it comes to covering this increasingly controversial issue.

This is unfortunate because there is a lot of validity in CTV's position. But from now on, it will be hard to trust what CTV journalists have ...
