Article: STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTS OFFICERS

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., May 28 -- The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education issued the following news release:

The State Board of Education today elected new officers for the coming academic year, beginning July 1.

David Liechti, St. Joseph, who is currently serving as vice president, was elected president. A former member of the St. Joseph Board of Education, Mr. Liechti is a self-employed Certified Public Accountant in St. Joseph. He has been a member of the board since October 2003.

Mr. Liechti will succeed Dr. Russell Thompson, Columbia, who has served the past two years as president.
