CHICO, Calif., April 3 -- California State University Chico issued the following press release:
The Chico State baseball team's five-game winning streak came to an abrupt end with a 19-8 loss to sixth-ranked UC San Diego Friday night at Nettleton Stadium. Kyle Eveland banged out four hits, including a two-run homer, and Eric Stephens also hit a two-run blast for the Wildcats. That was far from enough to overcome their five errors and the Tritons' 21-hit attack.
UC San Diego's 19 runs and 21 hits were the most against a Chico State team since the fifth game of the 1996 season. The good news for Wildcats fans: That team rebounded to advance all the way to the West Region title game after ...
