ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 6 -- Takuya Matsumoto, Yasuhiro Ochii, and Atsushi Morohoshi, all from Yokohama, Japan, have developed a spray gun for electrostatic painting. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,552,882 on June 30.

The patent has been assigned to Anest Iwata Corp., Kanagawa-ken, Japan.

According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A spray gun for electrostatic painting in which an external electrode sustaining a high voltage can be fixed/removed while sustaining insulation from a spray unit on the ground potential side by limiting current supply to paint appropriately when electrostatic painting is performed using conductive paint, e.g. water ...
