Working with children and their families to manage eczema and control flare-ups

Atopic eczema affects up to one in five children in the UK, and can begin in babies from about six weeks of age.1 Although eczema is not often thought of as a serious medical condition, it can have a significant impact on the quality of life for both the child and the family. This impact is not directly related to the severity of the condition.2 Children with mild eczema may experience more distress and there may be a greater impact on the family than for some who have moderate to severe eczema.
