LANCASTER, Calif., July 7 -- The city of Lancaster issued the following news release:

One part dancing, two parts music, delicious food, and a whole lot of fun is what makes Celebrate Downtown Lancaster the best way to welcome the arrival of summer to the Antelope Valley. On July 17, the City of Lancaster celebrates summer with a free downtown street festival brimming with live music, dance demonstrations, kids' activities, fresh fruits and vegetables, and delicious food.

"People have been visiting downtown Lancaster for over a century," said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. "Today, retail outlets, professional services and delicious restaurants still make downtown a natural gathering spot. ...
