WASHINGTON, July 9 -- The office of Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, D-N.J., issued the following news release:

The Senate Appropriations Committee today passed an amendment authored by Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) to the Fiscal Year 2010 State and Foreign Operations funding measure that would legislatively overturn the "global gag" rule and protect women's health. The amendment passed by a vote 17-11 after contentious debate.
