ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 10 -- Takaaki Matsuda and Toshinori Shiraki, both of Kanagawa, Japan, have developed an impact-resistant vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon resin. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,557,160 on July 7.The patent has been assigned to Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp., Tokyo.According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: " An impact-resistant vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon resin, the hydrocarbon resin being produced by radical polymerization of 75 to 98 parts by mass of a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomer (A-1) or a mixture of a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomer and a monomer copolymerizable therewith (A-2) and 2 to 25 parts by mass of a ...
