Mark Fenster, a professor at the University of Florida Law School, maintains that conspiracy theories occupy an important place in American democracy. Conspiracy theories are recurrent, associated with major historical events, and circulated through mass culture and politics. Fenster's focus is interdisciplinary and stands in contrast to the views of those who would dismiss conspiracies as marginal and pathological.
