London, July. 11 -- Three inquiries have been launched in Britain to ascertain the facts in the phone hacking claims. The director of public prosecutions, the Press Complaints Commission and a Commons select committee will probe the details in the scandal, which involves News of the World.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Keir Starmer QC has launched an 'urgent' review of the police investigation of the Sunday paper for illegal phone tapping three years ago. Starmer said he wanted to reassure himself and the public that 'appropriate actions' were taken over material provided to the CPS by the police during that investigation.
