TIERRA AMARILLA, N.M., July 1 -- The New Mexico Department of Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources issued the following news release: Celebrate the return of the osprey to northern New Mexico July 10 - 12 at Heron Lake State Park's fourth annual Osprey Fest. View osprey and their nests in the wild, see other live raptor species up close and personal, tour the lake by guided boat and ride the narrow gauge rails through spectacular Cumbres Pass. This year, 17 nesting pairs of osprey have been documented in the area.
